ebook cover of Photo styling applied to the fashion and objects, by Valentin Pinta
ESMOD | 14 December 2022

Discover the work behind the scenes of photo creation and dive into the basics of framing and photography. This publication is for any student interested in working as a professional photo stylist, for young brands finding their feet, for teachers seeking to explain how work in images is professionalised and for any entrepreneur who has started an e-boutique. To be a photo stylist, you need talent. But at a basic level, the job is often about versatility: being able to work at all stages of development of an image. Composing the right visual message is central to the whole project. A photo shoot requires not just a strong artistic grounding, but tools and methods. A photo stylist seeks to optimise the esthetic of an image alongside a photographer, either in a studio or outdoors. This requires knowledge of photographic processes and material. The particularity of the sector also affects how the arranging is approached. Through specialist websites and targeted magazines, the photo stylist breathes life into images. A photo stylist has to master communication. So, dive into this exciting world to familiarize yourself with the field or deepen your knowledge of it. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Despite having achieved a Master's degree in new product design and innovations, Valentin Pinta wanted to go beyond engineering. Because the esthetic of products appealed to him, he was drawn to the art of creating. His creative practice focused on images: graphic design, technical drawings and photomontages of trends guiding new collections. He grew so passionate about design and styling that he became a style coordinator. He played an active role in catalog photo shoots, arranging still-life scenes to highlight fashion items. These skills led Valentin into work for ready-to-wear brands and fashion agencies. He would shoot street looks while on trips to Florence, Berlin or Paris. And alongside these pursuits, he started teaching styling at ESMOD Paris, naturally focusing on photo styling. So, it became important to draw up an overview of this profession.

ebook cover of La maille en coupé-cousu, by Sandrine Delhumeau
ESMOD | 30 April 2021

Making patterns and 17 explained models, finishing and constructions for your t-shirts, sweaters, skirts, jackets, and trousers in knit fabrics. This book explores all the possibilities in patternmaking for cut-and-sew knits and, through a selection of models, helps you make a full collection or complete your wardrobe with basic pieces adapted to women's ready-to-wear. ""cut-and-sew"" knits, long used only for undergarments, have a definite place today in our closets and are found throughout the wardrobe. Buying knit fabrics by the meter and sewing them on an overlock-shaving machine can be easy but, though knits are comfortable to wear, their stretch qualities require special skills to make the patterns and sew the garments. This book is used as an educational support for third year ESMOD Paris students. ABOUT THE AUTHOR After graduating from ESMOD in 1988, Sandrine Delhumeau had her first work experience in Athens, Greece, in a company that specialized in cut-and-sew knits. Her next ready-to-wear experiences included working on women's and children's clothing in denims and other woven fabrics as well as working with cut-and-sew knits. After 13 years of experience as an employee, she decided to open her own style office to develop and interpret collections in different designer universes and, especially, to work for herself. At about the same time, in 2004, she returned to ESMOD to teach patternmaking. Since 2010, she have taught the Women's ready-to-wear, Knit option Patternmaking class in partnership with Christian Tournafol who specializes in knits and sustainable development. Today she's thrilled to share her experience in this book that, she hope, will transmit her passion for this wonderful skill of patternmaking that truly plays the role of a fashion interpreter.

ebook cover of All dressed up, by Mireille Tembouret
ESMOD | 30 April 2021

History, function, codes and characteristics of all the dresses. Corsets, panniers, crinolines or bustles are words that no longer have significance today. But at various times throughout the history of clothing, women wore these essential pieces under their dresses and often needed help to put them on. Depending on the fashions of each period, certain parts of the body were highlighted as elements of seduction (a tiny waist, extremely wide hips, an exaggerated bottom,...). Women sought what they believed to be an ideal of perfection while obeying the strict, often extravagant codes of Fashion and social norms. It was the events surrounding World Wars I and II and then the Women's Liberation Movement of the 1970s that finally introduced dresses which did not restrict the body. But even today, dresses still assert a woman's femininity. Every woman has at least one precise memory of a dress that marked a key event in her life and was intrinsically associated with her joy of pleasing others! ABOUT THE AUTHOR Originally a passionate collector of old fabrics and clothing, Mireille Tembouret today oversees the enormous "Vestiaire" (wardrobe), a mix of civilian and religious garments from many eras. The company - with its surprising resources - provides clothing to film, television and theater professionals as well as special-event organizers or private individuals. After teaching fashion design at Esmod Paris and a design career in the Paris fashion industry. She now dedicates her energies to developing her company, based in Paris.

ESMOD | 30 April 2021

Breeches, pants for leisure wear and tailored trouser shapes, functions and details followed this direction, establishing a timeless wardrobe and defining a rich language that is often forgotten today. In this second book, breeches and trousers deliver their secrets to illustrate this social evolution since today, both men AND women are... Wearing the trousers!
