Duke Brennan has been the Iron Hares' sergeant at arms for eleven years and the man who stopped smiling for two. He eats at the same diner every Tuesday, orders the same thing, and says nine words to the only woman in three counties who treats him like a person. Hollis Rae has been sliding a second slice of pie into his box since the first week. She knows who he rides with and she doesn't care. Then a shipment goes missing, the club turns on its own, and the trail runs straight through the diner - and through the name of a brother Hollis buried six years ago. Duke has one loyalty left to spend. He is going to spend it on the woman who never asked him for anything, even if it costs him the only family he has ever had. Some men break. This one chooses.

Rook Calloway runs the Red Locusts' construction crew and one rule: no brothers in her bed. Then winter brings three of them to the Loyalton build. Vane, the new sergeant-at-arms, who goes through her books before he looks at her face. Sketch, a tattoo artist with no patch and no reason to stay. Doc, who patches every man on the mountain and won't let anyone near him. Rook is skimming. Vane figures it out in three days. The money isn't hers - it's her dead father's marker, and the rival club bought it to take the build out from under her. Now the four of them have one season to pay it, ride to a table that wants her gone, and come back with the deed. Rook doesn't do brothers. She's about to make an exception - three of them.
