Rosalind Vaccaro came to Collevere to sell her grandmother's bakery, not to solve a murder. But when a regular customer dies at the corner table with a silver sugar spoon in her hand, the constable calls it natural causes and Rosalind calls it a lie. Maddalena was her grandmother's oldest friend. Maddalena was holding a receipt Rosalind never printed. And every question Rosalind asks leads her closer to the town's quiet capo, Tommaso Ferraro, who owns half the storefronts and, it turns out, has been paying her grandmother's taxes for eleven years. Someone in Collevere wants the past left alone. Rosalind has a bakery, a notebook, and the whole piazza behind her. She intends to find out who - before the ovens go cold for good.
