Sample Book Insights:
#1 The author's friend was right about the hardest thing they've ever done being the building of a local church. The author experienced intense insider struggles with bitterness and frustration, which led to thoughts of giving up.
#2 When you're in a hard stretch, it can be difficult to keep your thoughts in order. You may find yourself constantly looking over your shoulder, wondering if someone is out to get you. You may struggle with your emotions, and you may snap in anger. But you must remember that these are not your enemies, but the enemy, who has taken a seat at your table.
#3 I began to see myself sitting at a table with the Good Shepherd across from me. I didn't need to be afraid, even though the fiery trials weren't all resolved. My place at the table didn't mean that my enemies would be removed from the equation.
#4 The message of Psalm 23 is a message of victory. It's a story of a Good Shepherd who sees you and walks with you through the valley. It's about God setting a table of nourishment and refreshment in the midst of trouble.
