Rest, Rest
In "Rest, Rest," Charles Spurgeon delves into Jesus' invitation from Matthew 11:28-30, where He calls the weary and burdened to find rest in Him. Spurgeon highlights the simplicity of Jesus' call to "Come unto Me," emphasizing that rest is not achieved through human effort but received as a gift from Christ. He contrasts the heavy burdens of self-reliance and sin with the peace and rest that Jesus offers. This rest is immediate, complete, and freely given, embodying a profound spiritual peace that surpasses all human attempts at finding solace. Spurgeon's sermon reassures believers of the sufficiency and accessibility of Christ's rest for their souls.
