Magda Mamet, née à l'Île Maurice, ancienne Isle-de-France, pays de Paul et Virginie et de la Dame Créole. A publié plusieurs recueils de poèmes : "L'effeuillement des jours", "Messages", "Geôle de chair", "La rébellion de l'esprit", "Les barques terrestres", "Les rescapés de la joie", "Cratères" (Prix France-Île Maurice, 1958). A fait des études de lettres en Sorbonne. Est journaliste. S'est essayée au roman et à la nouvelle. Aime beaucoup Paris et sa vie spirituelle, que les charmes de la vie créole ne parviennent pas à faire oublier.
