He rejected me in front of three hundred witnesses. Five years later, I found out that rejection was never supposed to survive the night. Wren Calloway knows exactly one thing about the stranger who wrecked her in a single snowbound hour at a masquerade: his hands felt like coming home, and his silence felt like drowning. She doesn't know his name. She doesn't know he's the Alpha King of five territories. She only knows that when he stood on a ballroom stage the next night and called her a mistake he had the sense not to repeat, something in her chest went dark and stayed that way for five long years. She built a life out of the wreckage anyway. A business. A home. Two extraordinary children she raised completely alone — one who moves like still water and casts a shadow with teeth, one who glows like a struck match and doesn't yet understand why. She never told them their father's name. She never had to. Until the day her daughter lit up in a kindergarten classroom in front of exactly the wrong witness, and the war her children were born into finally came looking for them. Draven Voss has spent five years running an empire by day and a territory at war by night, telling himself the ache in his chest was old news. He was wrong. He rejected the only bond his wolf ever recognized to save her from a war he didn't start — and it cost him five years he can never get back, a son he's never held, and a daughter whose gift is about to make her the single most hunted bloodline in the Convergence Council's history. Now he's on her doorstep, and the only way to undo a broken promise is a Rite older than pack law itself — fought in blood, at genuine risk, in front of a rival who's already rigged the ring to make sure Draven doesn't walk out of it. She has to stand close enough to end the fight before it kills him. He has to prove that claiming her again is worth burning his empire to ash. And the war that's coming for their children has barely even started. Between a masquerade she can't forget and a mate-claim she never asked for, Wren is about to learn exactly what it costs to love an Alpha King — and exactly how far he'll go to earn back everything his fear once threw away. 🐺 A forbidden bond. A rejection with teeth. A secret that glows in the dark. This isn't a second chance. It's a reckoning. Contains a slow-burn reunion, a blood-price rite, a villain with a thirty-year grudge, a trafficker with nothing left to lose, and a love scene the full moon will never let either of them forget.
