Animal Farm
share
"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
Animal Farm by George Orwell is one of the most famous political allegories and dystopian satires ever written - a short, sharp classic that remains as relevant today as when it was first published in 1945. This unabridged audiobook brings Orwell's timeless fable to life in full.
When the overworked animals of Manor Farm rise up against the drunken farmer Mr. Jones, they dream of a world built on equality, freedom and the Seven Commandments of Animalism. Led by the pigs - the ambitious Napoleon, the visionary Snowball and the silver-tongued propagandist Squealer - the newly renamed Animal Farm seems, at first, to be a paradise. But as power concentrates in the hands of a few, the revolution begins to devour its own ideals. Old Major's dream fades, the loyal carthorse Boxer works himself to the bone, and the commandments painted on the barn wall start to quietly change.
A biting satire of the Russian Revolution and Stalinism, Animal Farm is also a universal warning about totalitarianism, propaganda, corruption and the abuse of power - as much a critique of any regime as of Soviet communism. Widely studied in schools and universities, it is essential listening for fans of 1984, Brave New World and classic dystopian fiction.

George Orwell
